How to tell if a piece is right for consignment

Luxury resale is not a catch-all. Some pieces sell in 48 hours. Others sit. The difference is usually not the brand — it is the item.

What moves quickly

Condition above all. A piece in excellent condition at a fair price will always outsell a pristine box with a mediocre item. Buyers can see condition in photography; they cannot feel how the silk drapes. So we photograph everything ourselves.

Sought-after seasons. The 2019 Zimmermann prints. The 2022 Chloé blouses. Archive pieces from labels that have changed direction. These find buyers who have been searching for months.

Basics at a luxury price tier. A Max Mara coat is not basic. But it has a timelessness that makes a 10-year-old piece look contemporary. Those always sell.

What to hold back

Pieces with alterations, heavy wear, or missing hardware. Trend items from three seasons ago with no archive appeal. Fast luxury — pieces that retailed under $200 — rarely attract the buyer our platform draws.

Submitting

If you are unsure, submit anyway. We review every piece before listing and will tell you honestly if something is not a fit. No fee for items we decline.
